The GPS fleet tracking system has 3 main components namely The GPS Device installed in the vehicle, the cellular telephone service carrier to transmit collected data from the GPS device to base station/receiver, and the Receiving base station with computer running Gps application programs with electronic maps.
The overview of the tracking typically goes through the following processes:
• The GPS device collects information pertaining to location, speed and direction which is calculated using data from 4 stationary-orbit satellite signals
• This information is then transmitted to a designated receiver (or base station) using cellular communication.
• Once received, the information is then loaded into the Gps application program where the data is plotted on an electronic map.
Having this information allows operators to then use this data for other purposes such as calculation ETAs to destinations, route adjustments, schedule monitoring and other vital business information for enhanced operational efficiencies. |

After purchasing a car for myself, I was very eager to drive myself to work and to other places I wanted to go. I finished all the formalities I was required to undertake before driving in our public roads like acquisition of a driving licence, a car tax disc, an insurance cover and an MOT licence. I even paid for my car tax in advance so as not to get in trouble with the car tax department. After a few days, the car tax was reviewed by the government and we were required to pay less than what I had paid. I was very happy because that was a saving for many drivers. I was however not sure if the post office, where I had paid my car tax, was going to give me my car tax refund or not but I had to try.
